Geraint Williams is a Associate with Darwin Gray LLP. Having worked in the Law for circa 11 years, he has 5 years' experience post qualifying predominantly in the area of Commercial Property, currently employed as an Associate. Before joining Darwin Gray LLP, Geraint created and led the in-house team of a prominent north Wales Registered Social Landlord/Housing Association (RSL) as the lead solicitor for almost four years. Geraint worked closely with the development team on site acquisitions and conducting the legal/title investigations, whilst showing a deep appreciation for the commercial, design and planning elements of the housing development project. In this role Geraint played also assisted the RSL's teams in charge of niche Leasehold schemes such as retirement properties, and residential Shared Ownership in addition to the RSL's own portfolio of Leasehold properties - some where the RSL was the Landlord, and some as the Leaseholder. Although a strong in-house element to his career to date, Geraint's roots are firmly in private practice having spent six years prior to the RSL, in High Street firms, in north Wales, initially as a Paralegal, before completing his training and qualifying in 2019. Property has featured prominently in Geraint's portfolio of work since day one, initially more on the Residential side, before developing into transactions more of "commercial" nature, acting in the sale/purchase of caravan parks, B&Bs, Hotels and too, leasehold aspects of retail spaces from individual shops to larger scale industrial units, before crossing over to the In-House role. Working for the RSL brought a striking balance between the commercial side and the appreciation for living spaces and Geraint continues to assist some of the largest RSLs in Wales on their new developments. Geraint also has a personal interest/background in the hospitality and sport-tourism sectors in north Wales resulting in him having a keen interest and unique understanding of the challenges and nuances of these sectors. Diligent and with an eye for finer details, one praise that Geraint’s has regularly received over the years is his ability to take something complex and break it down into its most simple and understandable form - in plain and simple Welsh or English (or a combination of both! - whichever the client prefers!)
