I never write reviews but I have to let those who happen to be in need of legal assistance to resolve disputes/ fare evasion/ delay repay claims with Northern Rail know that Samir at Manak Solicitors is your go to man without any doubt.
I came across very positive reviews of Manak Solicitors on the UK rail forum and I am so glad I contacted them. The reviews were 100% legit.
My story in brief:
I contacted Samir at 7.30am on a Saturday morning, he called me back in the next 2 minutes and reassured me that he would settle my delay repay drama with Northern Rail (my fault entirely that I got myself into this mess). I had a zoom meeting with Samir on Monday morning to go through the case and it was successfully settled out of court on Thursday (today).
I can't put it in words how grateful I am to Samir. He has totally delivered what he said he would in just 3 days, even though he didn't promise such a quick turnaround. If you are feeling anxious about your situation with Northern Rail (or any other train company as I believe he deals with all of them), I can highly recommend Samir at Manak Solicitors without hesitation.

Fare Evasion
I just want to say a huge thank you to Samir! he’s been absolutely amazing throughout the whole process. My case was really difficult, and honestly, I thought there was no way it could be settled out of court. It felt impossible. But Samir listened carefully to everything I had to say, gave me honest and straightforward advice, and never gave me false hope.
As soon as he got a response from TfL, he called me straight away to let me know they’d decided to give me a warning instead of taking it further. I couldn’t believe it. I’m honestly so grateful, and I would 100% recommend him to anyone looking for an evasion solicitor. He genuinely knows what he’s doing and actually cares.

I can’t thank Mr. Samir and his team enough — they are incredibly professional and experienced in handling TFL-related matters, and truly saved my life.
[Disappointment with other firms]
Before finding Mr. Samir’s firm, I had contacted another law firm, but the experience was extremely disappointing. They asked for my payslip right away, and I suspected they used my income level to decide what kind of service I would get. Because my income was modest, they assigned me a trainee solicitor.
That trainee solicitor started reading my documents only during our paid consultation, reading them word by word without preparation. He didn’t appear experienced, gave no opinions or direction, and the session ended up being a complete waste of my time.

That’s when I decided to look for another firm — and luckily, I found Mr. Samir. I truly feel fortunate to have discovered his firm.
I first reached out on a Saturday, and the experience was excellent from the very beginning. I submitted all the necessary documents through their website, saving me the hassle of back-and-forth emails. I didn’t expect to be contacted the same day, but one of the team members reached out promptly and asked for additional documents. By Monday morning, they had already scheduled a consultation with me for that afternoon.

Mr. Samir is a lawyer with true integrity. He didn’t try to offer false hope just to earn legal fees. In fact, he told me very honestly that my previous actions (I had written a letter to TFL on my own) had made the situation worse, and that my chances of success were only about 10%. He let me decide whether to proceed and even said he didn’t want to waste my money. That honesty truly impressed me. I still decided to move forward, and I’m glad I did.

My advice is: at a critical moment like this, don’t try to cut corners to save money. Many people contact law firms every day, so I didn’t hesitate to choose the fastest service option — and that decision proved to be the right one.
Lastly, I’m also grateful for the mental health expert Mr. Samir recommended. She was kind, patient, and incredibly supportive.

Excellent legal advice - litigation and conveyancing
I can't rate the services of Samir Moftah and Rosemary Dean and her conveyancing team highly enough. I was dealing with an incredibly complex set of issues over a number of months including trying to buy out an ex-partner from a joint house, who had questionable mental capacity and also an inability to engage with the process. Moftah is very knowledgeable and helped me take control by setting out worst case options and practical steps I could take. He gave me the tools I needed to push forward. He was mindful of cost too which I was grateful for, keeping his calls brief etc. Rosemary, Natalie and their team delivered on the task to complete my purchase within the deadline I requested, they kept me out of the detail, only contacting me when required. The process was seamless. Many thanks to Agota too for helping me navigate the transfer of monies to Manak for the purchase completion, always an anxious time, which she made stress free for me.
