Caseworker at Duncan Lewis Solicitors Ltd

Finley Mulligan

Caseworker

I am a Senior Caseworker in the Immigration and Public Law department based at our Birmingham office. I work under the direct supervision of Immigration and Public Law Director and Supervising Solicitor, Darren Middleton. My caseload involves a wide range of claims and applications involving asylum and further submissions, immigration bail, human trafficking and modern slavery and human rights. I also work on cases challenging Home Office decisions by way of making an application for judicial review. I also advise on human rights matters where the Home Office has made a deportation order. I regularly take instructions from clients currently detained in prison or immigration removal centres and take a strong interest in doing so, including visiting detained clients in person. I am regularly instructed on immigration bail matters and I frequently obtain immigration bail for my clients. I have experience in applying for immigration bail and advocating in Tribunal bail hearings. I am also experienced in handling cases where removal directions have been set. I am a recipient of the 2023 Social Welfare Solicitors Qualification Fund (SWSQF). I am therefore currently studying for my SQE exams with a hope to qualify as a solicitor in early 2026. I hold Senior Caseworker accreditation from the Law Society under their Immigration and Asylum Accreditation Scheme and an Enhanced DBS certificate. I have a particular interest in how climate change affects international protection, having focused on this topic during my master's in Human Rights.
