John is a Partner and family law Solicitor in Howells' large matrimonial team based in the Sheffield office.
He specialises in all aspects of matrimonial law including divorce, civil partnership and cohabitation breakdown, financial matters arising on separation and divorce, children disputes and the arrangements for children generally, pre and post-nuptial agreements and protection from domestic abuse.
The breakdown of a relationship is invariably one of the most difficult situations anyone can encounter in life. John has extensive experience in assisting his clients resolve the wide-ranging difficulties arising from that situation and is passionate about helping to the conclusion of that process as sensitively as possible.
John offers a free half hour initial appointment to provide advice and reassurance upon the many issues arising from the breakdown of a relationship. This can also be arranged over the telephone if preferred to meeting at our Sheffield office.

Divorce and pension settlement
John was very professional and understanding of my situation from the beginning right through to the completion of my pension transfer. I was unaware of what the divorce proceedings would en tail but John explained everything fully to me ensuring I understood and if I didn’t I felt at ease to ask questions. It was very stressful at times but John reassured me and put things into perspective. All the hard work was well worth it in the end and I couldn’t have done it without the amazing support I received. matrimonial matters
Even though my divorce was in essence, reasonably amicable, it was complex and by no means easy to understand. I was ably assisted by John Clegg whose attitude and professionalism was outstanding. He was able to guide me through complex processes and make the whole matter easy for me to understand. Without his assistance then there is no doubt that the whole process would have become difficult and elongated. I would highly recommend him.

Excellent in every respect
I was subjected to an acrimonious divorce, which had 'blindsided' me and put me in an extremely difficult and vulnerable situation. To begin with I was very anxious about the divorce process, but I need not have worried. It was quickly clear to me that John Clegg is a highly capable and experienced lawyer. He guided me through every step and did so in a way that I could understand. His communication was prompt, polite and helpful throughout, and he was always on hand to answer my numerous questions. I found John, and all the other staff members with whom I dealt at Howells, to be highly professional. Highly recommended

Professional, supportive, with a human touch
Right from the start, John provided me with no-nonsense, clear advice about my divorce and proved invaluable support when things got difficult for me over the financial aspects. He (or on the rare occasions he wasn't available another competent member of staff) always responded promptly to my emails. It was so reassuring to know I had Howells on my side at this very challenging time in my life.

Brilliant result
I was very happy with the service and guidance that John gave on my divorce case. He kept me upto date on all aspects. Offered helpful & sound advice when i wasn't sure how to deal with my pension.

Divorce
Hired Howells to help with my divorce they were absolutely amazing. John kept me up to date with what was going on without the legal words. If the others party were dawdling he got them going. Pleasure to deal with. Would highly recommend them to anyone

Efficient and copassionate
John looked after my divorce proceedings with efficiency and kindness. These were very prolonged due to the recalcitrance of my ex to make any decisions. John guided me through to jargon and processes. although the length of the process was costly I can recommend John Clegg for divorces.

Fantastic Service and Excellent knowledge
In what was not a good time going through divorce, John provided fantastic service, knowledge, advice and experience that allowed me to move forward proactively and positively. Obviously not been here before so while everything was new to me John was able to explain, answer my queries and guide me through. Ensuring that I was not taken advantage of and things were kept as 'fair' as possible through mediation and that we were able to avoid the additional costs of barristers arguing things out in court (not necessarily for everyone but if you can I would advise trying). John is very approachable and easily advised on my trains of thought (even the 'weird' ones) no question was ever treated as dumb.
Overall a fantastic outcome and great service by John and the whole team at Howells (PA's, Accounts) all ready and able to help. Would definitely recommend and happily use again if ever needed.
