Butterworths were recommended to me by a friend to oversee the sale of my house. The start of the process was pretty smooth and we were able to get started quite promptly communicating with my buyers solicitors even though my estate agents were slow off the mark. However, as the process went on, communication became slow and I found myself chasing them for updates as my buyer and I were in regular contact and getting some mixed messages. Eventually, my solicitors recognised and acknowledged the completion date I'd asked for as I was selling without purchasing anywhere else so no chain above me, but we couldn't do this date because the buyers solicitors weren't yet ready - ok no problem, we suggested another date and it took for me to chase my solicitors again before this was confirmed.
Finally, the sale went through and we completed - yay! I received a phone call early on the day of completion to say I'd receive the funds by the end of the day and I did.
But a week later I received an email to say there was a shortfall with my mortgage and I now owed £100. The email contained no apology for the mistake that had been made and when I responded and expressed my disappointment and frustration about the matter, I was met with silence. I had expected a more professional response. But alas, I was met with none.
Overall, they did sell my house quicker than when I bought it (with different solicitors), but I was not so impressed with the level of communication towards the end of the process.

From start to finish excellent service.
Good amount of Communication throughout. Will highly recommend to friends / family etc.

Butterworths conveyance
Overall it was okay in the end , however the timeline experience was incredibly frustrating as we never knew where we were in the process . We were updated only after initial contact in effect we chased to get answers . The questions raised on the case website were never answered and these queries were answered only after direct telephone contact .

House conveyancing
Overall ok and was valid for money.
Communication was the key let down. App was never updated until last few weeks & I constantly had to chase updates.
I had to some info through couple of times as App didn’t seem to function.
We chose Butterworths as was based in Whitehaven but often no one in Whitehaven office.

Little communication
Very little communication whilst waiting for vendors probate. Had to ring up and chase before anything was then done. After pushing for completion it got a little better, but was very slow dealing with communication for probate, which was holding up the sale at the beginning.

Conveyencey
I found Team Dubyk very professional and always helpful when I had any questions relating to my house sale.
Also a quick response to other issues eg ID checks and help with questionnaires. Butterworths was also a very direct company with direct and answers, which instils confidence into me when the pressures of moving home can be extreme for various reasons. My thanks to Gill Dubyk and her PA Sue in dealing with my house sale. David.
