Excellent services for new home purchases

We recently worked with a Advisor and a Solicitor to purchase our first newly built house, and I couldn’t be more pleased with the service.
Douglus and Caitlin was incredibly helpful, always quick to respond to any questions, and kept us informed every step of the way. The entire process was handled efficiently, and I never once felt the need to chase up anything. They ensure everything goes smoothly made the experience stress-free and enjoyable.
Highly recommend!

Avoid. There will be better out there.

Gilson Gray did the sale of my house which being under a contract with the estate agent went through easily. I thought being the seller solicitor, that it would make sense to be the buyer solicitor as well. How WRONG was I?! Despite having the same case handler it was painful with lack of communication, painfully slow processes, promises of action not kept and generally soulless to deal with. To start with I trusted they were just doing what they needed to do so responsed via portal when requested. Then after about 8 weeks I was like ok when are we completing on my purchase thinking it was roughly around week 12, then it took another 8 weeks with what seemed to be like a request for extra indemnity insurance for this, that and the other. From about week 10 I had to make weekly calls for updates, from week 14 I was on twice a week. I knew the sale and purchase wouldn’t happen on same day, with roughly a couple weeks in between but did not expect another 7 weeks!! Even when I had actual problems on the moving day as the sellers didn’t move out, they wouldn’t represent me to reclaim lost money as a result of having charges places on me by the removal people because sellers didn’t move out til 6pm! There will be much better solicitors out there. These seem to have a couple of senior solicitors to sign off and the rest are glorified admin, who have no authority to make anything happen. It must be as frustrating to work there as it is to have wrongly appointed them to do the purchase of the new house. What a horrible horrible experience. Avoid.

Re scores below I have had to say I was satisfied with the outcome as EVENTUALLY the purchase went through. I had to say they kept me informed because I rang them twice a week, I had to say they pointed out clauses because they did but they did not help me navigate them with advise. Just told it was my decision.

We recently used Gilson Gray’s conveyancing services in a house sale. Jemima Booker was excellent in keeping us informed and progressing the sale and I felt the team especially Vanessa went above and beyond in pushing the sale through. The final administration went really well including payment and completion statement.
Thanks everyone.

Unfortunately, my experience with Gilson Gray has been very disappointing. Despite multiple attempts to contact them via phone and email, I have received little to no response.
Despite numerous phone calls and emails, I rarely received a response. When I did, it was often dry and not to the matter. This lack of communication caused significant stress and delays in my case.
Timely communication is crucial in legal matters, and the lack of responsiveness has caused unnecessary delays and frustration.
A solicitor should be proactive and keep their clients informed, but unfortunately, that was not my experience.
I cannot recommend this firm to anyone who values timely and professional communication. If you need a solicitor who will keep you updated and respond promptly, I suggest looking elsewhere.

I have worked with Rachel Jowett now for over 10 years. I work as a manager in estate agency and Gilson Gray are one of our panel solicitors. With the recent stamp duty changes there has been immense pressure to hit deadlines and Rachel as always went above and beyond to push transactions through. She always answers emails and is at the end of the phone whenever we or her clients want to speak to her. She really is one of the best out there and this goes a long way when being in the industry for over 25 years. Thank you Rachel you superstar! xx

Avoid at all costs! I’m not sure anyone actually works here let alone picks up emails. By far the worst company I have ever dealt with for communication. They NEVER get back to you on ANYTHING. Unfortunately I am still dealing with them now and I’ve just chased a load of replies i sent to them 2 WEEKS AGO and haven’t heard anything from. It’s not helped by the fact that every time someone sends me something to fill out it’s a different person each time so I don’t just have 1 contact. I can’t recommend that you give this company a wide berth enough. Carrots would be more communicative than this lot!
