Carbon Law Partners- Awful Company- Personal Data Breach etc
We instructed Carbon Law Partners to sell our buy to let property in September 2024 and Laura Holmes was assigned to our matter. The first communication that we had from Laura was a Sale Instruction Form which was good, the only problem was that it was FULLY COMPLETED WITH SOMEONE ELSES DATA so we now knew this persons full name, date of birth, address, email address, mobile phone number and also NI number! Good job Carbon Law Partners, complete breach of GDPR and so if you want your personal information to be sent to other unknown parties, CLP is the one for you! With all the scamming that’s going on I suggest you give CLP a wide berth.
Other issues unfolded during the conveyancing process that we weren’t happy with and like others have mentioned either on Google or Trustpilot reviews Laura tends to ignore the questions that you email if she doesn’t want to answer them. I suggest you have a look on Trustpilot as the reviews aren’t as glowing as on Google, that after the property was sold I, along with my wife made a subject access request on the 10th March 2025. We then had the pleasure of dealing with Mr Ed Surman, the Data Protection Manager, who, bearing in mind this a single property sale, no purchase, made the SAR seem like rewriting the Bible! At every turn he created issues which we complied with what they have asked but still as of 18th June 2025 I still do not have the information that I have requested. Bizarrely, Ed started copying in on email the Complaints Manager even though at that point there had been no complaint made. This seemed a bit strange to myself as Ed made a big deal of the fact that he was separate from CLP, so I can only conclude that there was some collusion between them.
As you can imagine I was getting a bit fed up after all the SAR should have been completed within one calendar month and after 2 months down the road, jumping through all the hoops that Ed wanted and still not getting the information, I decided to submit a formal complaint. This complaint went to a William Brewis, the Complaints Manager who Ed had been copying in on our email exchanges on 17th May who is also a director and was acknowledged on 22nd May 2025. They aim to reply after 21 days, I have still heard nothing after 26 days and Ed had agreed to send the emails I requested on the 10th May but required an additional calendar month as it was ‘complex’- this is a joke!
I have chased both of them but no ‘out of office’ or response from either of them- absolutely nothing!
They both appear not to want to answer either the complaint or provide the information and I can only assume that they are trying to restrict access to my information as it shows that at the very least Laura has been disingenuous with us or at worst down right dishonest.
If you look at the CP website it attempts to give the impression of being client centric, this is just marketing spin, they do nothing but despise and detest their clients- AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!
