Deeply disappointed and distressed by this law firm’s conduct. They contacted my ex-partner — a former client of theirs — and disclosed that I was pregnant by their new client, without my consent. They then asked him to provide personal information about me to support a claim from their current client. My ex partner refused. I was 21 years old and didn’t understand this was not right, when asking them they said they were not at liberty to discuss this.

At the time, I was in a high-risk pregnancy and had not told anyone, including my daughter, to protect her from trauma. Because of the firm’s actions, my ex told her, and shortly after, I lost the baby. This invasion of privacy and misuse of sensitive personal information caused me and my family serious emotional harm.

I have reported the incident to the ICO and am seeking further action. This breach of confidentiality and lack of professionalism is unacceptable from any legal practice. I am hopeful that the ICO decides to take further action for what this law firm did to my family due to their mishandling of my personal information.

When I raised this with them in 2021 they blamed my ex partners new solicitor, despite themselves making the data breach.
