Heaton Moor office: Probate & WIlls Team Specifically

I first engaged with Shane at a time when my mother had passed away and my farther the same year. Work had been a nightmare, through no fault of my own and I was having other life changing problems.
I checked between CJ and another solicitor (always have options when committing to finances) who had been advised through a friends contact. Lots of things didn't stack up, services were over after probate application and had to spend 10 minutes asking the same question to get an answer. Shane admitted when he didn't know something and just came across as honest, unlike this other option.

CJ were twice the price but after several free, sensitive; very knowledgeable consultations with Shane and commitment to take the fee upon receipt of the estate, I went with Shane & CJ at twice the price (due to % based fee)! Something that would turn out to be a good decision.

I met with Shane and was introduced to Katie, a lovely trainee at the time, who helped through the process from the initial appointment to grant of probate. Lots of complications and issues arose that Katie helped with, while Shane offered to resolve one issue to do with lost documents from the 20th century as part of the fee (Change of name, which I later found but was a confidence boost at the time). Throughout the ups and downs Katie advised and put up with some of my more frustrated calls, with a final success and grant of probate.... and a deduction of the same fee as described at the point of agreement with CJ (madness I know!)

Honestly, the process was stressful enough, taking 18moths and without Katie (a fully qualified solicitor by this point) it would have been much worse and I was lucky to have her help and support.

Between the two of them they made a great team and, while more expensive, sometimes you need to go to Waitros or Sainsbury's to get your meat, as ALDI just doesn't cut it at the family roast.... and you'll regret it!

Exceptional conveyancing services

Chris Furbey completed on our house sale and purchase last week. Throughout the process, Chris was proactive, responsive, and clear in his communication. His expert knowledge and extensive experience ensured things ran smoothly from start to finish, with Chris and colleagues going above and beyond to manage the chain and ensure deadlines were met. We would not hesitate to recommend Chris to others and will certainly use Clifford Johnston & Co’s services as required in future.

First class service, diligent, approachable, goes above & beyond

As a first-time buyer with complex circumstances, we were concerned about the mortgage conveyancing process, particularly given the looming deadline for stamp duty, which wasn't far off for us, as we commenced our process in January. My experience using Chris Furbey was excellent and unrivalled! He made us feel at ease right from the beginning. He was clear, provided timely responses, and was honest with his advice. Even when our first mortgage fell through, it was his professional advice that saved us from entering into a transaction that would have been detrimental to us. We quickly contacted him regarding the second mortgage, and he made us feel safe and well-represented throughout the entire process, even with a looming stamp duty deadline that everyone said was impossible to meet. Chris Furbey and his team made it possible, and he delivered above and beyond. His diligence and straight approach were excellent for our neurodivergent household, and the trust established made us less anxious throughout the process. It is indeed refreshing to meet professionals like yourself. I am spreading the word! "A special thank you for giving my autistic son a safe and quiet home to write his GCSE." He says he would like to thank you in person, and we hope to do that soon. Thank you again for everything!

Fantastic service and incredibly helpful!

I recently used Clifford Johnston to sell a flat and buy a house, after having a positive experience using them when I initially purchased the flat 7 years ago. Chris was absolutely fantastic, he was very knowledgeable and answered any (sometimes !) questions I had which has removed so much stress and worry from the process.

Lots of my friends and family have horror stories of solicitors not responding to them when buying or selling a property. Clifford Johnston were the absolute opposite of this and I'd recommend them to anyone!

Diligent, attentive and experienced

I came to Clifford Johnstone & co in a time of great distress for both myself and my family. My initial contact with them I was nervous and scared of my upcoming case.
My solicitor was incredible, explaining every step of the process and making sure I was completely informed of what was to come.
Any questions that were not asked on my initial contact were answered as and when I required them. I never had any issues getting in touch with them and never had to chase them down for anything.

They honestly went above and beyond for me in an incredibly difficult period and I couldn't be happier with the service that they provided.

They will make you feel very well looked after and deliver their very best at every opportunity.

If you are looking for expert legal counsel and representation I would highly advise to approach them for their services.
