Left me in a distressing situation

I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction with the service I received from Anji McMullen. My experience was not only disappointing but also incredibly distressing during one of the most challenging times in my life.

I approached my solicitor for guidance regarding a highly sensitive matter involving my daughter, who claimed she was sexually abused by her grandfather on her father's side. Given the gravity of the situation, I expected a compassionate and understanding approach. Unfortunately, I found the opposite. Anji showed a complete lack of empathy and kindness, making me feel more like a burden than a client in need of support.

The situation escalated when my child’s father attempted to take her to the grandparents’ house, a place where she had previously disclosed abuse. When I sought advice on how to handle this concerning situation, my solicitor suggested that I should comply with handing my child over, simply because it wasn’t explicitly stated in the court order that contact should not happen. This advice felt not only reckless but also completely disregarded the safety and well-being of my daughter.

In what should have been a collaborative effort to protect my child, I reached out to social services, who intervened and made it clear that contact should not occur at that location. I chose to follow their guidance, prioritising my daughter’s safety over my solicitor's Anji’s advice. Disappointingly, Anji then withdrew from representing me because I didn’t take her advice, leaving me without legal support just before a hearing and a contempt charge for not handing my child over to attend a location she claims abuse occurred . This decision felt punitive, given that I was trying to act in my child's best interests.

It is troubling to see how someone in a position of responsibility can handle such sensitive matters with such a lack of care. If this is how Anji McMullen deals with cases involving abuse, I cannot recommend their services. It's critical for individuals facing such serious and emotional issues to have legal representation that not only understands the law but also demonstrates compassion and support for their clients. Sadly, my experience showed me that this firm lacks both.
