Absolutely appalling in every way
This review is for a different branch.
I wanted to share my experience with Simply Conveyancing to warn others considering their services. Their incompetence turned into months of stress, financial loss, and complete unprofessionalism.
From our initial contact in December through to February, this firm spectacularly failed to spot an obvious conflict of interest. When challenged, they claimed I somehow "wasn't their client" during December despite multiple phone calls and portal setup. This suggests either gross negligence in their intake process or a deliberate decision to ignore conflicts to win business. Neither reflects well on their integrity.
Perhaps most concerning was their handling of confidential documents. They managed to post my mother's Lasting Power of Attorney - containing sensitive personal and financial information - to an entirely wrong address. We only recovered this document from a stranger's recycling bin. Their dismissive attitude towards this serious data protection violation was genuinely shocking.
The way they eventually disclosed the conflict was unprofessional and distressing. Despite assurances that our timeline wouldn't be affected, their delays caused significant practical and financial consequences. The impact on my elderly mother, who has serious health issues, was completely ignored despite my LPA being specifically designed to shield her from such situations.
After documenting over £2,000 in direct costs (emergency accommodation, storage fees, etc.) resulting from their errors, they initially offered a derisory £250 compensation which I fought hard against but it was like getting blood from a stone. Their complaint response was defensive rather than apologetic, showing no genuine understanding of the harm caused.
Simply Conveyancing demonstrated poor professional standards, inadequate systems, and a concerning lack of accountability. The stress and financial impact of their failures extended far beyond what any client should endure from their legal representation and I would go so far as to say that the chaos they caused was the reason our property sale fell through in the end.
For such an important transaction as property sale, you need solicitors who are thorough, professional, and trustworthy. Based on my experience, Simply Conveyancing falls well short on all counts.
Would I use them again? Absolutely not. Would I recommend them? Under no circumstances.
Choose a firm with proper procedures and genuine client care - you'll thank yourself later.
