This review is as honest as I can be. Personally I would not recommend to others due to a few issues. They could be better with communication, as initially I was not copied into emails. This was soon rectified when I emailed for an update.
Unfortunately I had to do a lot of the leg work myself, being proactive for time constraints as I was awaiting surgery 5 months after the initial appointment to act on our behalf. I had to speak to Help to Buy, my mortgage company, management company to find out what was required from me to make sure everything was in place as soon as possible. In my opinion I think my solicitor should have taken the initiative and lead on this.
I also informed my solicitor that I was having surgery on a particular date and not to communicate with me but rather my husband, and this was agreed, but unfortunately the solicitor did not act on this information and caused a lot of stress for me asking questions about exchange of contracts for that day and arranging completion, when I was recovering in hospital. I also received calls from both their office and the estate agent, both leaving voicemails on my phone rather than ringing my husband. This was a very simple request which was not acted upon and I feel was very unprofessional on their behalf. We needed the completion to take place as soon as possible and both parties were aware of this and I’m glad completion still took place the following Monday, but this wasn’t a smooth process for my husband to sort out as he has never sold a property before and the solicitor’s office were arguing with him over delivering/collecting the keys. Hence my husband ended up dropping the keys off with the estate agent as he was needed at the hospital to help me while I was immobile and in a lot of pain! It was not the best experience for us unfortunately and like I said was extra stress for an already stressful situation.
