I would not use VHL again or my home move conveyancers. Our final case assistant aliyah was helpful and did get our case across the line within our completion timeline but it was not without great difficulty, but we thank her for the commitment to our case. I can’t recommend the lawyers - 3 different ones who worked on our case due to poor communication and lack of clarity throughout the process. We were never told until after it had happened the move of our case from one lawyer to another. This caused delays and confusion. I do not feel we received timely responses and the phone communication we did have on completion week was not friendly from Michelle. I would thank Gary for having a telephone conversation to explain some of the more difficult legal matters and queries we had during the process this was helpful to us. During the process mixed messages were given and we did not get a sense of honesty, with capabilities and next steps always changing I.e what answers we had from our bank vs not depending on who we spoke to. Overall it was a challenging and stressful experience when it didn’t need to be - we had a 1-1 chain and were flexible across a month on completion dates and allowed a full 14 weeks to complete.

Although I chased for updates a lot Michelle and Aliyah were always happy to answer my questions and come back with any actions. Fairly pain free process as far as moving house goes.

The sales team were very good. Saul, my contact was exceptionally good at explaining how things worked and what my fees would be. After which the online system and identity process was very simple. However, after that, things didn’t go so smoothly. Clearly, this business is sell it cheap and stack it high, volume based conveyance. Most annoying was that an email was sent by my buyers solicitor which wasn’t read and was lost for 10 days which delayed my sale. The solicitor was very good and responded to my emails quickly but her assistant Aliayah? Was not so good.
As such I was financially put in an awkward position when my completion was delayed so my question is, was it value for money? I’m not so sure.

We haven't sold a property for a while and we knew it would take time but we hoped a chain free sale would complete in around 5 months. Unfortunately, it took longer and selling a leasehold property is more complicated. The buyer's solicitor kept bringing up last minute issues which could not be blamed on our solicitor.
Also all the apartment paperwork was not in order either so it could have taken this long with any solicitor.
This practice offers great value for money and virtually all sales are taking a long time now. For that reason I would recommend because others charge a lot and don't give you anymore.
Communication could improve a little to relieve buyer/seller anxiety. More information on the personal customer website timeline of progress would help.

The job was completed successfully however there were times when they didn't respond that quickly. Overall the process took a few weeks longer to complete than we had hoped.

Overall the experience was very good.
There was the right amount of communication from an early stage.
The professional fees charged were very competitive, and represent very good value for the level of service offered.

Only leaving this review as they have threatened me that this is my third and final chance to do so! The reason I haven’t done so before is because my instruction is still not complete. It has been over a year since my initial instruction for a simple transfer of equity, and I am still waiting for confirmation from the land registry. This is not because the land registry is slow it is because VHL have taken so long to process my instruction. There is a total lack of communication and it would seem the only time they do any work on your case is when you chase them for an update.
The moment I paid my final bill, they were sending me emails and texts asking if I would recommend others to use VHL, the simple answer is NO.
