Incompetent and Unprofessional
My parents used Northwood Banks in 2008 to prepare wills and powers of attorney. In May 2024, my parents requested return of these documents. Despite numerous emails and written letters together with proof of ID, NB failed to do so. My parents basically gave up.
In March 2025 my mum passed away. Over three weeks I left 5 phone messages and 5 emails. None were replied to. Eventually I got through to an associate, who gave me a specific person’s email . He advised me to send all proofs of ID (which NB already had) and death certificate to that email. I received no reply to those emails either.
I eventually got a response,,, but only through FaceBook chat after I posted a critical comment to one of NB’s own messages.
Clearly this firm is far more concerned about its image than its clients.
I was then referred to another person working for NB’s “sister company”, who required me to send all the proofs of ID and death certificate YET AGAIN. Eventually, over one year from my parents initial request, I received my mum’s will and power of attorney. Even then, however, they refused to send my dad’s will plus title deeds until he had paid an £18 release fee.
I’m a legal professional who has been practicing for 18 years across a number of jurisdictions. Northwood Banks is the most ineffective firm I have ever had the displeasure to deal with. Their lack of communication in the weeks after my
Mum’s passing caused a lot of anxiety and upset as well as causing a delay in the administration of the estate. This firm should be ashamed of itself.
