After a rocky start of being passed on from solicitor to solicitor without notice, due to their rolling of staff, I finally landed on a great solicitor and the process went smoothly. The process, while effective, was slow due to the limited way they handle communications and the juggling of various clients. I would have preferred a more personal approach to handling the communication at the start, but I cannot complain as everything was eventually resolved positively and the new solicitor was much more approachable. I would return to Boys & Maughan again and I am grateful for their help.

Overall good service and support

Overall good service and support in what was a short, 3 parties, property chain, that through no fault of my solicitor became bogged down by the buyers solicitor at the bottom of the chain agreeing Exchange and Completion dates then 2 days before Exchange raising many queries which they had not bothered to raise in the previous 14 weeks.

My solicitors, the practice I am doing this review of, dealt with this sequence of events very well and kept me informed of progress.

The reason for the 2/5 rating was due to:
- errors made by my solicitor (incorrect information given and not rectified in a timely matter)
- long periods of no contact between myself and my solicitor and my solicitor responding to the buyers solicitor
- never updated unless I reached out
- the branch advising I’d be called back the same day or following by my solicitor and this rarely happened. I had to chase
- escalation to the branch manager and then only work moved quickly
- I progressed my file by chasing third parties and waiting in hold such requesting specific documents to progress my file.

The overall impression I got was my solicitor had a dedicated 1 hour slot per week to progress my file and then it was left until the following weeks slot.

For the fee they charge, I was not satisfied with this service

Was recommended to use Christine @ Boys & Maughan by my mortgage advisor Robin, part of Davies Financial Planning.
I am very happy to say I was pleased with the overall service provided, with any queries being answered very quickly, usually within the hour.

Considering we were told that the average time to completion was 16-20 weeks upon first starting our property search, we managed to apply, exchange and complete in just under 9 weeks!

Can't thank Christine, Carol and Elaine enough for their speedy and professional service.

Highly recommended.

Overall the experience was good but I did have to chase a couple of times to get a response. I appreciate that with stamp duty increases etc and everyone trying to move at once put a lot of pressure on conveyancing firms but when I had to chase several times for someone to acknowledge me on more than one occasion, or when my estate agent seemed to know more than my solicitor, it did become a little frustrating. However, overall the experience was good and I am still using them for my purchase. They are thorough which is a very good thing and can argue on your behalf to get what you need to get. So yes I would recommend them as a conveyancing solicitor firm.

It is widely accepted across the profession that solicitors’ usual standards of client care suffered in the run up to the Government’s stamp duty holiday deadlines. These deadlines resulted in a significant increase in activity in the property market and we had to deal with much higher volumes of emails, telephone calls and enquiries. Now that the holidays have passed, things are steadily returning to normal and our teams are feeling greatly relieved that they can take more time to liaise with clients and respond to their queries once again. We are also glad that you are using us for your purchase and recognise Stephanie’s thoroughness. It's something Stephanie is well known for and we're pleased her efforts have resonated with you.
